The short, thick coat of A. microtis suggests that the animal is often in water or resides in areas of heavy rainfall. Furthermore, its short legs are well adapted for locomotion in dense forests. These conclusions are supported by this animals' distribution--all specimens have been collected in lowland tropical rainforests.
